Klinga, Norway

Klinga is a village and a former municipality in Namsos, Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The village of Klinga lies about halfway between the villages of Bangsund and Spillum.
==History==
The municipality of ''Klingen'' was establisted on 1 January 1891 when it was separated from Vemundvik. Initially, Klingen had a population of 1,387. In 1917, the name was changed to ''Klinga''. On 1 January 1964, Klinga municipality ceased to exist as it was incorporated into Namsos together with the whole of Vemundvik and smaller parts of Otterøy and Fosnes. Prior to the merger, Klinga had a population of 2,482.
The dominant industries have been industry, agriculture, and forestry. The development of the main roads through the village was slow. In 1908, bridges were built over places previously served by ferry. In 1922, the important Namsen river bridge was completed so that traffic between Namsos and Klinga could occur regardless of the uncertain ferry connections. In 1928, the state took over road maintenance on main roads and eventually developed a road link to the south and east. Norwegian County Road 17 runs through Klinga.
In the Church of Norway, Klinga became a sub-parish (''sokn'') within Namsos parish (''prestegjeld'') in the 1800s. It became so after a renaming of the sub-parish Sævik in May 1885, which was preceded by the moving of the central church in the sub-parish from Sævik village to Klinga village in 1863.
